Minke Whalers cottage was built in 1926 by Mr Francis Langridge who walked from Melbourne with his family looking for work.It was built from local hardwood cut on site and forms a pair of the original,Historic Whalers cottages on Cyrus Street.
The cottage has been recently fully restored & offers all the modern comfort & styling you would expect.
The whale watching season is also a great time to visit. Don't miss this spectacular annual migration of the Humpback Whale in the pristine waters of Jervis Bay Marine Park. "Minke" has a special arrangement with Dolphin Watch - discount vouchers are available at the cottage. The Northern Migration runs in June and July, the Southern Migration from late August to end November.
Hyams Beach is the jewel of the Shoalhaven and acknowledged as one of the world's most beautiful holiday locations. The magnificent sweep of beach is celebrated in the Guinness Book of Records for possessing the whitest sand in the world.
The cottage is not suitable for children or pets.
The bedroom and lounge windows face the Bay and views are also visible from the front verandah and expansive side deck. There are large slider doors between our eat-in kitchen and deck. The many colourful birds are prolific in the area, as are the dolphins in the Bay & regular sighting of Kangaroos in the surrounding Boodere national park We have an extensive selection of games & books available ,TV and DVD player.

Adorable in the outside, comfortable and fully equipped on the inside. Such close proximity to the beach and the homemade muffins each day at Hyams Beach Cafe were a plus! Really enjoyed the selection of games and books/magazines - play Finska in the backyard with beers. Highly addictive! Really really enjoyed our stay at Minke!

I don't really want to say anything nice as it will be even harder for me to book this gorgeous cottage again. The cottage is beautiful. The interiors are lovely, the location fantastic with a very short walk to the beach and cafe. Although it rained for most of the time I stayed, I took the opportunity to read, relax and enjoy this gorgeous cottage and stunning location. I will certainly be back to stay here.

We loved our stay at Minke. Beautifully furnished, clean, fresh, bright and airy. Decor pays homage to the history of the cottage, but we also loved the modern, contemporary feel. Lots of charming decorator touches throughout the cottage add to the enjoyment of the cottage - attention to detail is evident! The location is perfect! A short walk to the crystal clear waters and white sands of Hyams Beach. Although the cottage is fully equipped to self cater, we also enjoyed the proximity to the lovely local cafe/restaurant where we enjoyed some delicious meals. Decks front and side of the cottage meant that we could take advantage of the views of sea/bush while finding the perfect sunny spot! Overall, a perfect spot for a relaxing weekend by the sea. We would highly recommend Minke and would definitely return. It was even better than we had anticipated!
